Aircraft Spins Uncontrollably into Palm Groves at Frequented California Coast
An aircraft hovering above a crowded coastal shoreline abruptly started spinning uncontrollably, finally losing altitude and smashing into a line of palm fronds as onlookers watched.
Recordings uploaded on the internet show the aircraft starting to spin over the shoreline then plunging in the direction of the perimeter of the shore, where it ends up lodged amidst palm trees and a set of stairs near the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Update
Emergency responders reported five individuals were transported to a medical facility comprising two who were in the helicopter and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the crash on Saturday.
Three persons on the street were injured. Information on their injuries were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was still under investigation.
Planned Function
The department said the helicopter was connected to an annual “Cars and Copters” fundraising event set for the following day.
